Here's how realtors can keep buyers calm and housed as Charlotte HQ openings bring them to the city before they have a home.

Key takeaways

  • Leaders at two companies opened Charlotte offices on September 29, 2026. One team is folding its Michigan and Texas offices into Ballantyne.

I'm Patrick Smith. I started Be Relaxed Corporate Housing in Fort Mill in 2013, and referrals are how most people find us.

Which Charlotte HQ openings happened this fall?

Two, on the same day.

On September 29, 2026, leaders at Daimler Truck Financial Services opened their North American headquarters in Ballantyne. Leaders at Capital Group cut the ribbon on their East Coast operations hub in Charlotte. Each company put out a press release dated that day.

Governor Josh Stein went to both events, according to his office's release of September 29, 2026. His office counts 276 jobs at the Daimler headquarters. The people at Capital Group say their hub will grow over time.

The Daimler team is folding its Michigan and Texas offices into the new building, so some of those workers are moving here from other states. They will want a realtor. First, they need a bed.

What 3 moves should realtors make?

  1. Ask the housing question on the first call. Ask every relocating buyer one thing: where are you staying while we look? You learn how much time you have, and how much patience.
  2. Keep one housing contact in your phone. The lender needs another week. The seller wants a rent-back. Your client has to be out by Friday. You want a furnished option you can offer in one sentence, with no research.
  3. Check the handoff before you make it. You put your name on every referral. Ask who answers the phone, what is on the bill, and whether the home is move-in ready. My answers: I do, one simple monthly bill, and yes.

What happens to a buyer between closings?

Picture a family of four moving for a job in Ballantyne. They have closed on the old house. The builder is running six weeks behind on the new one in Fort Mill. The movers are booked, the kids start school Monday, and the dog is in the car.

They can get through a few nights in a hotel. For six weeks, they want a kitchen, bedrooms with doors and a washer.

We place people in furnished homes across Charlotte, Fort Mill and Rock Hill, with the utilities on before they arrive. Our minimum stay is 30 days, so we fit the gap that runs a month or longer.

You make one call.

How does the Be Relaxed referral program work?

We thank realtors with a $250 Visa gift card through our referral program. You can find the form on our realtor referral page.

Send me the client's name, their dates and whether they have pets. We confirm availability, then we prepare the space.

That is the whole process.

My take

I lost a job I had held for nine years. Family told me to open a housing company, so in 2013 I did.

I'm a single dad, and I know what it means to need a soft landing during a hard transition.

When you send me a client, I am holding your reputation. They get a welcome basket on the counter. Their dog gets treats.

They get my number, 803-548-4663, and I answer it.

What do realtors ask about temporary housing?

What do buyers do when closing dates don't line up?

They need a place to live during the gap. A family can manage a few nights in a hotel. For a gap of a month or more, they do better in a furnished home with a kitchen and laundry.

Does Be Relaxed Corporate Housing work with realtors?

Yes. Realtors refer clients to us when a closing shifts or a relocating buyer arrives before they have a home. We thank realtors with a $250 Visa gift card through our referral program.

What is the minimum stay at Be Relaxed?

Our minimum stay is 30 days. If your client's gap is shorter, a hotel is usually the better fit. If it could run longer, ask us what is open.

Can my client bring pets to temporary housing?

Most of our properties allow pets, and a non-refundable pet deposit may apply. Tell us about the pet up front so we can match the home.

Which areas does Be Relaxed cover?

We place people in Charlotte, North Carolina, and in Fort Mill, Rock Hill and Tega Cay, South Carolina. We also serve other parts of the Carolinas and Georgia.
